Nintendo has finally announced that the Nintendo NX would be launched in 2017. Electronic Arts seem to be joining the bandwagon as the company says they could port or develop their games for the console.
Fans have been waiting on official announcements from Nintendo since day one but rumors and speculations kept them satisfied for a while. The specs and features of the Nintendo NX have also been speculated, however, the company has not yet confirmed anything.
There is also a confusion as to whether the console would be portable or not. Reports have claimed that it would have a base console and the controller would have second-screen capability which would allow the player to play games even outside their home.
Fortunately, there is one thing that is clear with the Nintendo NX. Some games have already been confirmed by developers themselves.
Square Enix will be dishing out Dragon Quest X and Dragon Quest XI for the console, according to Gizmodo UK. Of course, Nintendo would most likely bring out a new Mario platformer and the new Legend of Zelda title could also be headed for the new platform after several months of being delayed.
The company has also announced that the Nintendo NX would be hitting the shelves by March 2017. Their reason for the delayed launch is that their "software line-up" should be ready by the time that the console itself is released.
Nintendo has also several patents that could have been for the new console. They hint at the power of the upcoming console such as the supplemental computing device which allows the hardware to run with more processing power.
In addition, Electronic Arts could also be bringing their games to the Nintendo NX. EA vice president Patrick Soderlund told BBC that they are in constant communication with the Japanese video game company regarding the new console.
It could mean that the new Battlefield 1 set in the First World War could be coming to the new console as well. Other developers are yet to confirm whether they will be porting their games as well.
Nintendo NX would possibly go against the Microsoft Xbox Two and the Sony PlayStation NEO. All of the next-gen consoles could start popping up in 2017.
