New details and potential spoilers for the "Power Rangers" reboot movie will feature Rita Repulsa's possible backstory and the Dragonzord appearing in the film.
The Saban and Lionsgate produced "Power Rangers" reboot revealed the full costumes of five teenagers destined to become earth's mightiest defenders against the evil sorceress Rita Repulsa (Elizabeth Banks). There costumes resembles that of the original costumes from the 90's TV series, but with more alien like armor as oppose to the body-tight cloth used within the show.
Director Dean Israelite told Entertainment Weekly that the "Power Rangers" is show for kids coming of age, about "metamorphosis" and the suits needed to feel like they are catalyzed by them with their energy and spirit. He added that it was tricky for them to research on superhero costumes and stated the costumes "grows on them" and not "man-made". The costume were made to appeal to more mature audiences and gain new fans at the same time.
It is revealed in the film's synopsis that Zordon chose these five individuals, Jason (Dacre Montgomery), Kimberly (Naiomi Scott), Zack (Ludi Lin), Billy (RJ Cyler) and Trini (Becky G) to Power Rangers, but must first overcome their individual problems in order to work as a team.
So far, there is little information about Rita Repulsa in the "Power Rangers" reboot film, beside her overall appearance and costume. However, Reddit username The_AtomBomb theorized that Rita Repulsa in the film is a former Ranger herself, more specifically the Green Ranger due to the striking similarities of her outfit to the five main rangers.
The Redditor also added a photo of an edited version of the Pink Ranger costume to support the claim. Although there has no word from both Saban and Lionsgate about the theory, it does raised the question whether this version of Rita Repulsa could be a former ranger and has been corrupted by evil somehow and fight Zordon.
In other news, there are rumors making rounds that Zord will be making its appearance to the "Power Rangers" reboot film.
Writer Lan Pitts speculated that Rita Repulsa will likely have her own Zord in the movie and mentioned that her outfit resembles that of a "dragon". With that in mind, Rita's Zord could be the famed Dragonzord from the "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" TV series, ComicBook reported.
The Dragonzord in the "Power Rangers" TV series piloted by Tommy Oliver (Jason David Frank) the first Green Ranger during the time he was controlled by Rita Repulsa. Tommy used the Dragonzord against the Rangers, but was defeated and broken from Rita's spell. Tommy joined the rest of the Rangers and used both the Megazord and Dragonzord to form the Mega Dragonzord and with Titanus, it will become the Ultrazord.
The "Power Rangers" reboot will be in cinemas on March 24,2017.
