New details for "Wolverine 3" will feature a "western" style theme, rated R style violence and the possibility of Logan appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
"X-Men" film producer and writer Simon Kinberg revealed several new details for "Wolverine 3" during a press event for "X-Men: Apocalypse in London. Kinberg stated that "Wolverine 3" is now filming this year and it will be a R-rated movie to its violent content comparing it to a "western stye" theme, Screenrant reported.
The plot details for "Wolverine 3" is rumored to be set in future timeline since the movie will based on Mark Miller and Steve McNiven's comic book storyline, "Old Man Logan". With Kinberg pointing out that violent nature of spin-off to a "western" tone, it would likely seem that the future setting of the film will be a desert wasteland similar to its comic book counter part and might featured an old and seasoned Logan/Wolverine (Hugh Jackman).
Jackman stated in an interview while promoting "Eddie the Eagle" that the script for "Wolverine 3" is "super close" to being finished and currently has the incomplete copy of it, even joking that his facial hair is growing. But with "Wolverine 3" currently filming this year, comic book fans may have a chance to seea little bit of "Old Man Logan" treatment within the third "Wolverine" spin-off.
It is previously rumored that Logan's female clone Laura Kinney/X-23 will be joing "Wolverine 3" as casting calls from Central Casting are looking for stand-ins and photo doubles for codename "Juarez".
The requirement for said stand-ins and photo doubles must be "Caucasian, Hispanic and Asian looking females over the age of 21," specifically at a height of 4'-4'11" and size 0-4 with dark brown hair. With that in mind, all signs lead to X-23's first live-action appearance within the "X-Men" film franchise.
There is a possibility that Liev Schreiber might return to his role as Victor Creed/Sabretooth as he stated in an interview that the story of "Old Man Logan" got him interested.
In other news, several rumors are making rounds regarding Wolverine appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
"Captain America: Civil War" directors Joe and Anthony Russo told Collider that they want to have more Marvel characters to featured in "Avenger: Infinity War" as they sighted Wolverine as their first pick followed by the Great Lakes Avengers team.
Unfortunately Fox holds the rights of the characters within the "X-Men" franchise and Jackman announced that he will retire the character after two films, namely "X-Men: Apocalypse" and "Wolverine 3. However, Jackman stated several years back that he wanted Wolverine to be part of the MCU and Avengers and teased that Wolverine should fight Bruce Banner/The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo).
"Wolverine 3" will be release in cinemas on March 3, 2017.
