With the initial release date set on July 2017, the "Jumanji" film reboot has been earning a lot of buzz. One of which is the report that the actor, comedian, and musician Jack Black is joining the crew.
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson confirmed that Black is indeed joining the cast when he posted on his Instagram account that the comedian is officially onboard. The actor, producer and semi-retired wrestler added that he has been a huge fan of Black. He also said that Black is a great actor, and fans will understand he has been chosen to fill a certain role in "Jumanji" reboot, The Verge reported.
Black has been reported as one of the most decorated movie actors with the comedian's superb performances in his movies, namely "Nacho Libre," "Kung Fu Panda," "Tenacious D" and "School of Rocks," Rolling Stone reported.
Meanwhile, it has been more than 20 years since fans saw the premiere of the original "Jumanji" film, with its lead actor, the late Robin Williams, who plays the role of Alan Parrish. The film was an adaptation of Chris Van Allsburg's book with the same name.
The plot of the original "Jumanji" film was about a magical game board that summons dangerous beasts and other animals to the real world, and the book also summons Alan Parrish who got trapped in the book for 26 years. The 1995 film was a blockbuster hit with a total gross of $262.8 million dollars.
Reports said that Johnson really respects Williams, and how the actor managed to bring the film in to the best of what it has to offer. The "San Andreas" star also revealed that he will be honoring Williams in the anticipated film. He added that William's role as Alan Parrish will not leave the franchise, and that it will be immortalized.
On the other hand, in regards to the release date of the movie, it was reported by Deadline that the long awaited reboot will have its premiere date on July 28, 2017. Perhaps, fans may want to check out Johnson's Instagram more often, as they may get updates on news or spoilers surrounding "Jumanji" reboot.
