"Cosmos" executive producer Neil deGrasse Tyson confirmed that "Cosmos: A Space Time Odyssey" will be coming back for a second season. Since its first season aired last March 2014, a second installment has not yet been produced.

In an interview with Business Insider last October 2014, Tyson revealed that they are already conducting meetings in order to prepare for the upcoming season. Although he said that nothing yet is formal, he confirmed that he will be meeting with the executives of Fox to discuss their plans.

Tyson previously mentioned that updates will be rolling out in a month's time from the time of his interview while he was promoting "Star Talk." In December of the same year, the astrophysicist revealed in his Twitter post that a conversation was made between him and show's executive producer Seth Macfarlane, Slash Film reported.

The announcement was supported by a separate Twitter post made by Macfarlane in which he said that a preliminary discussion for the second season has been made while mentioning Tyson. Aside from the two executive producers, this remake also involved the people behind the previous "Cosmos," like writer Ann Druyan and co-writer Steven Soter.

Looking back, the remake of the 1980 "Cosmos" which debuted last March 2014 garnered at most 8.5 million viewers when it aired on Fox, National Geographic and other cable networks. This number of viewers ended at an average of 3.93 million comprised mainly of 18 to 49 years old. "Cosmos: A Space Time Odyssey" has been considered by National Geographic as its most watched TV program, Business Insider noted.

Part of the interview was when Tyson confidently said he thinks there's nothing more he would change about the show, "I don't think there's anything I would do differently," the host said. "I was quite happy with how that turned out, how the visualizations, the animations, the script, the music... it's a full sensory intellectual experience." He even mentioned the ship of imagination which he described as a "badass ship."
