Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg thinks that women should take more computer science courses and lean in the technology industry so she has launched a network mentorship to help encourage more women to get in, her Lean In project started a new section called "CS&EChapter."
The chapter is meant for potential and current computer science women who wanted to connect for advising and mentoring support, according to Tech Crunch.
"We believe that we can all come together to support women in these fields - we can change the numbers, change the stereotypes, and change the world," Sandberg wrote.
Lean In's CS&E Chapter is in partnership with Facebook, LinkedIn, and Anita Borge Institute that will help boost the female empowerment matter to progress. According to Sanberg, the main reason why there are not many computer science women is that there are not much women in computer science system.
The social media giant's COO believes that she needs to call this matter into action. The Lean In program will let computer science major students to form 10 to 12 students per circle, under computer science and engineering courses, who will meet on a regular basis to share their thoughts, ambitions, and support each other in their goals.
Sandberg's Lean In Foundation website reached around 21,500 registered circles of peers who cyber mingle and access subject matter and leadership resources. She described the CS&E Chapter as a wide network wide network of women who want to Circle up in support of women in CS&E majors at colleges around the world.
