Because of the Surface Pro 4's success, avid Microsoft followers are now patiently waiting for any news surrounding the upcoming Surface Pro 5. The Washington based company has yet to confirm any details about their rumored new device. Nevertheless, speculations regarding the laplet's release date and specifications have since made their way online.

According to The Country Caller, there are two persistent rumors surrounding the possible release date of the Surface Pro 5. A few tech insiders believe that Microsoft is currently gearing up towards announcing the new laplet. The unveiling supposedly would happen in just a few weeks - at least before Apple launches the latest version of their MacBook Pro.

Still, some reports claim that the Surface Pro 5 would not be ready until the turn of the year, as Microsoft has planned to unveil the upcoming Windows 10 upgrade next year. According to insiders, it would just make sense for the company to launch their new device in time for the latest OS update.

Elsewhere, details about the specifications of the Surface Pro 5 have also reached the rumors mill. According to Neurogadget, the upcoming Microsoft laplet should be equipped with an Ultra HD display with an impressive 3840X2160 pixel resolution. The publication also claims that the Surface Pro 5's battery would pack an even more formidable punch than the 9 hour battery life of the Surface Pro 4.

The Surface Pro 5 is rumored to be powered by Intel's next generation processor - Kaby Lake. This processor is scheduled to be launched at the end of May in Taipei, which concerns enthusiasts who are waiting on an early Surface Pro 5 release. With the processor only ready this month, rumors that the Surface Pro 5 would be available for purchase in 2017 seems to hold more weight than the other persistent speculations.
