"The Flash" season 3 will continue to see John Wesley Shipp, but this time around, he will be giving life to Jay Garrick from Earth-Three.
In the previous episodes, Barry Allen/The Flash (Grant Gustin) was devastated over the fact that Zoom (Teddy Sears) killed off his father Henry.
At that time, fans of the hit The CW show thought that that was the last time they would ever see Shipp on the show.
However, even though he has already been killed off as Barry's father from Earth-One, the actor is still part of the series as Jay from Earth-Three.
In an interview with TV Line, Shipp said that he didn't know that there was some plans for him to still be part of the show after he was killed off as Henry.
Initially, he thought that after he helps Barry become comfortable to the fact that he's a superhero, he would be killed off so that he could become his own man.
What happened in the finale episode for season 2 definitely came as a shock even to the original The Flash from the '90s.
"I figured once that was completed, and Barry had fully accepted his role as a superhero, my job was done. So, I have to say that Henry's death this season was not a surprise to me; I was fully anticipating it. What I wasn't anticipating was what comes next, and that blew my mind. Blew it right off the hinges," he said.
Meanwhile, Shipp dished on whether or not he already has some idea of how Earth-Three would look like.
According to the actor, he only has an idea based on the comic books that he read as a much younger man. He added that Earth-Three is also the place where old villains go.
"Indeed, that's what happens at the end of the finale - Zoom turns into Black Flash and goes off to Earth-Three, so I'll be very interested when we get to the point of exploring exactly what Earth-Three is like and how close they'll stay to the comics," he said.
"The Flash" season 3 will premiere on The CW sometime in the fall.
