Acer will launch its Liquid Zest Plus smartphone in the United States in July. The Android phone's name sounds like a super shampoo or kitchen cleaner, but is in fact an unlocked Long Term Evolution (LTE) smartphone. It includes a 5.5-inch 720-pixel display and a huge 5,000 milliampere hour (mAh) battery, and is loaded with Android 6.0 (Marshmallow).

The Acer smartphone includes a Media Tek chipset quad-core Cortex-A53 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal memory. It has a rear-facing 13-megapixel (MP) shooter with a "tri-focus" system, and front-facing 5MP camera. The handset also has a mono speaker.

However, the main feature of the Liquid Zest Plus is the large battery. Acer claims that it allows people to use the smartphone for three days on a single charge, according to Android Police.

Acer's Liquid Zest Plus will have a price tag of $199 when it becomes available in the US in July. The global price for Europe, Asia, and Middle East will be €199 (about $220) and will be released about the same time.

Acer introduced its newest smartphone a little more than a month ago. At that time the original price tag for the US market was $250, so American consumers will get a type of "discount."

It is unclear why the Taiwanese company chose to cut the price 20 percent. It could be due to the wait time between the unveiling and US rollout, or to boost sales.

In related news, Acer will be launching several devices at this year's Computex trade show in Taipei. One example is Windows 10 laptops with fingerprint readers.

The new devices include two TravelMate laptops (14-inch and 15.6-inch) powered by Intel's 6th-generation "Skylake" core processors. They were released in late 2015.

In addition, the portable computers will include NVIDIA GeForce 940M graphics cards, and support up to 32GB of RAM, according to Engadget. The TravelMate units will be loaded with Windows 10 Pro.

Acer has plans to release the Skylake-based laptops in North America during the fourth quarter. The price tags will be $599 or higher.

Acer will also roll out a pair of 2-in-1 budget laptops for students. Switch V 10 and Switch One 10 both convert into 10-inch tablets.
