Apple's Mac Mini is scheduled for a major update this year, owing to the fact that, nothing about it was touched in 2015. With reports showing that the tech giant is not going to give anything away, Mac Mini rumors are already spilling out the likely release date, specifications, and fresh features.
History is pointing out that Apple may release the Mini Mac update in WWDC 2016 or sometime in October. The company reportedly performed its last update on the small desktop computer back in Oct. 16 2014.
This was a two-year wait since the previous model had come out on Oct. 23, 2012. Due to this, it is predicted that the company may follow its last step in the history of the Mac Mini and announce another update this year, Mac World reported.
On top of this, Apple has also added fresh Skylake Intel processors to its desktops and laptops, leaving the Mac Mini behind. The upgrade is, therefore, expected to come along with the upcoming generation of Intel chips dubbed Kaby Lake, which are due before the end of this year.
The expected changes to the new version are prospected to touch on the design, performance and hardware specs in general. Currently, Mac Minis only feature 4GB RAM as standard, which, as rumor suggests, may get ramped up to 8GB in the fresh entry level.
The other likely addition is extra flash drive options. The current one is a 2.8GHz model, which comes along with a fusion drive. Much of it is unexpected to change although Apple users who use the Mac Mini as a server might require extra capacity.
The Mac Mini has three models. The priciest model goes for $ 1153, the middle one for $821, and the cheapest for $576. This, however, is exclusive of the price of a monitor, mouse, and a keyboard. Rumors suggest that these prices will not drop, with almost similar pricing expected.
According to Apple Insider, much about the Mac Mini is, nevertheless, unclear. And given that the next Apple press event will happen in June, enthusiasts can hope that Apple will reveal more about it.
Until then, Apple Mac users can hold on to the reality that Mac Mini will eventually receive an upgrade before the end of the year as the company has often upgraded all its devices in the past.
