Sony is rolling out the Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 update to Xperia Z3, Z5, Z5 Dual and Z5 Compact. Other members of the Xperia clan such as Sony Xperia Z3+ / Z4, Z3 / Z3v, Compact, Tablet Compact, Z2, Z2 Tablet, Z Ultra GPE, C5 Ultra, C4, M5 and M4 are also in line to get the update soon.
Currently, Sony Xperia Z3 is receiving the Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 update. Network carriers Fido and Rogers are rolling out the update for their users and other carriers are expected to follow suit soon, according to Android Geeks.
The update is rolling out in stages for all the users. To see if they are eligible for an update, the user can manually check their device. To do so, they need to Settings> About Phone> System Update> Check for Software Updates.
In case the Sony Xperia user is prompted to download the latest update then they first need to connect their device to a power source if the battery levels are less than 50 percent. The device also needs to be connected to a stable and unmetered Wi-Fi connection for an uninterrupted download experience.
The Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 update is also rolling out to Sony Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact and Z5 Dual. This update also brings back the much-loved STAMINA mode back into the Xperia devices, according to Xperia Blog. The Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 update also comes with April's security patch and other Sony-specific shortcuts.
Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has not received the Android Marshmallow update till now. It is expected to get the update by the end of the month.
In addition, other Xperia members such as Sony Xperia Z3+ / Z4, Z3 / Z3v, Compact, Tablet Compact, Z2, Z2 Tablet, Z Ultra GPE, C5 Ultra, C4, M5 and M4 will also get the Android Marshmallow update soon. Some of these devices may also be eligible to download the upcoming operating system Android N.
