The latest details for "Overwatch" will feature more "Competitive Mode" features, new heroes added and a new cinematic angle style for "Play of the Game".
Blizzard Entertainment announced new features to the upcoming "Competitive Mode" for "Overwatch" as game director Jeff Kaplan explains what this new ranked game mode can do to the gamers playing the game. Kaplan told Eurogamer that the system in "Competitive Mode" will not be the same as it was featured in the closed beta stating that it was "frustrating and unfinished" and calling the new version a "progression based".
The new system will allow gamers to have monthly resets just experience the gamer's progression through multiple ranks within "Overwatch". Kaplan added that players will gamers will either go up to the ranks or tied down in the new system, unlike before were in players just rise further in rank.
Players will now go up and down tiers based on their progress in "Overwatch", making it much harder to perform well enough to make it into the higher rankings. The new ranked seasons will also be longer, giving players more time to reach their top rank. Each season will last around two and a half months, matching the real-world seasons, before the ranks are reset within the game.
In other news, Blizzard will be adding new heroes and game maps for "Overwatch" soon along with a new cinamtic angle for the "Play of the Game".
Kaplan explained that they are still figuring out how they will launch the new heroes and maps for "Overwacth" citing the negative feedback they have received when they launched D.Va, Mei and Mei at the same time within the game. Kaplan statedt that they will introduce their post-laucnh heroes one at a time, until "Overwatch" is established properly.
It is rumored that the new characters in "Overwatch" will be Liao and Sombra who have connections to heroes Mei and Pharah.
As for the new features for the "Play of the Game", Kaplan wanted it to have a cinematic style preview and wanted to highlight all of the cool gameplays that gamers did with such characters in "Overwatch" like Reaper to the less highlighted heroes like Torbjorn and Widowmaker, VG 24/7 reported.
BPrevious reports revealed that Blizzard will be planning on cross platform gameplay for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, however, the PC version will not likely get the same treatment. There is also new balances for the game, character buffs and nerfs for D.Va and McCree and live stream gameplay on Facebook.
"Overwatch" is currently available for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
