"South Park" Season 20 is set to premiere on Comedy Central on Sept. 14. Not much is known about the upcoming season but it was recently confirmed that Stan's dog Sparky has not run away for good.
Sparky, a brown dog wearing a pink scarf, was first featured in "South Park" Season 1 episode 4 titled "Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride," which aired on Sept. 3, 1997. Trey Parker directed the episode and co-wrote it with his series co-creator Matt Stone.
In "Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride," it was revealed that Sparky is gay after humping a rival male dog. Peer pressure forced Stan to make Sparky more masculine.
It did not end well as Sparky chose to run away and ended up at Big Gay Al's Big Gay Animal Sanctuary. On the other hand, it made Stan understand homosexuality, which led to his effort to make everyone in South Park accept it.
After "Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride," Sparky made some appearances. It even played a big role in "South Park: The Stick of Truth" because the dog and his red rocket are needed to advance through different parts of the game.
Sparky was seen with Stan in "South Park" Season 5 episode 7 titled "Proper Condom Use." The dog was also in the first and 14th episodes of Season 8 titled "Good Times With Weapons" and "Woodland Critter Christmas," respectively.
Described as the toughest dog on the mountain, Sparky is still around, according to the official blog of "South Park." It has yet to be confirmed if "South Park" Season 20 is going to feature the character voiced by George Clooney, who is set to star in Jodie Foster's crime drama thriller "Money Monster" with Julia Roberts, Jack O'Connell.
Along with Richard Gere and Salma Hayek, Clooney was one of the recent recipients of the Medal of the Olive by Scholas Occurrentes Pontifical from Pope Francis, Crux reported. The Hollywood actors were recognized for their work to fight war, terrorism and climate change.
