It is easy for diehard fans of the famous HBO television series 'Game of Thrones' to remember the names and faces of all the characters that have appeared on the show so far. However, the chances are that they might have missed noticing a same actor playing two different roles in two different seasons.
If the spoilers and rumors linked to "Game of Thrones" Season 6 was not enough, an observation made by Hello Giggles has given fans another reason to scratch their heads in sheer amazement and surprise. According to the publication, actor Dean-Charles Chapman has played two roles so far - King Tommen Baratheon in Season 6 and Martyn Lannister in Season 3.
That is, Chapman also played the role of another member of King Tommen's extended family, Martyn, in "Game of Thrones" Season 3 episode 3 titled "Walk of Punishment" and episode 5 titled "Kissed by Fire." The fact that King Tommen is Martyn would not have been noticed by a majority of fans before.
In season 3, Martyn and his brother Willem Lannister serve as a squire in the Lannister family. Martyn is taken as a prisoner by Edmure Tully at the Battle of Stone Mill. Both Martyn and Willem are murdered by Lord Richard Karstark, as a revenge for Jaime Lannister killing his own son.
The killing of Martyn and Willem infuriated Robb Stark to behead Karstark. The act made the Karstarks show their extended hand of support to House Bolton. This is how Chapman has pulled the chords of the show for quite some time now.
But what makes Chapman's dual role the most interesting is the Lannister family tree that can be derived from the storyline followed so far. If the Lannister family tree roots are connected, it will be realized that Martyn was actually Lancel Lannister's brother, according to Bustle.
Martyn was Kevan Lannister's son, which makes him Lancel's brother. Meanwhile, Kevan is Tywin Lannister's brother. Tywin was King Tommen's grandfather before he was shot down by Tyrion Lannister with the help of an arrow.
Meanwhile, Lancel is her former lover and Cersei Lannister's cousin. However, now, Chapman is playing the role of his own cousin as King Tommen. Although confusing, that explains that striking similarity between Martyn and King Tommen and the connection that it has with the Lannister's family tree.
