James Dornan's "Fifty Shades" co-star Dakota Johnson and Matthew Hitt have called it quits on their relationship. Reports claimed that the pair has decided to end their romance because their respective busy schedules keep getting in the way.
Johnson and Hitt's romance was introduced to the public in September 2013, after they were caught holding hands while out for a walk in New York City. They had a brief split in December 2015 and shortly decided to get together again. However, fresh reports indicate that Johnson and Hitt have now ended their relationship for good.
"Dakota and Matthew have dated on-and-off for the past two years," a source told Just Jared. "They didn't get a chance to see much of each other recently because their work schedules didn't align."
The source added that the 26-year-old actress is currently busy shooting the "Fifty Shades" trilogy in Vancouver, while the 29-year-old model-musician has been on the road along with his indie rock band, Browners. It is said that the American-Welsh rock band is slated for a summer-long tour.
It can be recalled that the rumors of their first break-up were centered on Johnson concentrating a lot on her role as Anastasia Steele in 2015's "Fifty Shades of Grey," which reportedly began affecting their relationship. The said speculation coincide with Johnson's previous revelation that she is excessively occupied for love.
"I don't have a lot of time for a relationship. I'm too bustling sanctimonious and afterwards, we go home and there's no one," Johnson said during her guest appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." At the time, the actress also revealed that she is going through a phase where she detested more things about men than she likes.
While neither have commented on the claims as yet, it was apparent that the pair seemed inseparable, as they were spotted holding hands at an after party for the 2016 New York Met Gala earlier in May. The brunette beauty donned a sweeping colorful gown in the said annual fashion event.
Despite the troubles with her personal life, Johnson's acting career has never been better. Johnson recently starred in the romantic-comedy film, "How To Be Single," alongside Alison Brie, Rebel Wilson, and Leslie Mann. It was released in 3,357 theaters on Feb. 12 with a worldwide grossed of about $112,143,513, Box Office Mojo reported.
