Mafia III now has a new The Criminal Ecology trailer where the developers explain how Lincoln Clay can take on the city's largest enemies by disrupting the different illegal rackets.
Revenge is the main theme of Mafia III but it will not be just a simple one-two-three journey to the climax. Players will have to travel around the city to take down criminal rackets which in turn will give them more opportunities to move up in the larger narrative.
While the earlier Mafia games have been somewhat repetitive because of its linearity, the new installment now ensures that players will have to be busy in order to beat the game. Hangar 13 just released their new trailer for that particular aspect of the shooter.
The new Mafia III trailer highlights the game's criminal ecology as Executive Producer Denby Grace explains how the whole structure works, PlayStation Lifestyle has learned. Side missions now have a huge influence on the main missions unlike in other games where they can just give the players more experience and loot.
Lincoln will have to infiltrate buildings and plants in order to lure out the criminals and take them out. The game will also have these "Enforcer" types of goons that are assigned to protect each criminal racket in the game.
Grace said that each of the criminal racket in Mafia III will have different objectives as well, Comicbook reported. He adds that all of the quests and missions are linked to the main narrative of the particular criminal ecology.
"The player picks and chooses which ones they want to complete in order to do enough damage to that racket, lure that hideout boss out to defend his turf, so to speak," Grace explained in the video.
If the player is not able to take down the Enforcer of the criminal racket, the hideout will be reinforced next time. This will make it harder to attack as more enemies will be patrolling the grounds and such.
Hangar 13's Mafia III will launch across the platforms on October 7. It will be available on the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.
