"Game of Thrones" star Kit Harrington will appear in the upcoming "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" but he won't be playing as a protagonist like his role as Jon Snow in "Game of Thrones," but he will be taking the role the villain, Settlement Defense Front.
His portrayal for the face of the SDF, which is a radical organization hell bent on destroying Earth, is indeed far from his role as a hero in "Game of Thrones."
"Kit is an amazing talent, and the consummate pro," said Taylor Kurosaki, narrative director, Infinity Ward, Entertainment Weekly reported. "Our story is about an epic showdown of opposing forces, and Kit immersed himself into the role and truly became the embodiment of the enemy, the Settlement Defense Front. We can't wait for fans to see Kit play an entirely different kind of character."
A video shows Harington, without a beard, entering a large motion-capture set-up. Harrington did a full facial scan and he also did some performance capture for the project.
Director Guy Ritchie worked on Harington's scenes. Ritchie also previously directed a live-action CoD trailer.
According to studio head of Infinity Ward, Dave Stohl, he is happy to have Ritchie back to work with them as he assisted them for the character of Harington. He added that they development of the role is very important for them and that they are excited about the performance of Harington and they can't wait to show it to the public.
"We're committed to delivering a compelling story with rich character depth, and this was a special opportunity to add to our fantastic cast," Stohl said.
Activision declined to comment on Harington's involvement to the project but they ensured fans that they will be revealing more details soon. For now, they have to keep silent and will reveal more at E3, wherein "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" will be highlighted as part of Sony's exhibit during the event, IGN reported.
Aside from Harrington, other Hollywood names also joined the franchise including "House of Cards" star Kevin Spacey who was in Advanced Warfare and Law and Order, SVU star Chris Meloni also appeared in Black Ops III.
"Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" will be unleashed on Nov. 4. To recall, "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" earned $550 million in sales when it debuted in 2015 beating Jurassic World which is the biggest entertainment release that year.
