"WWE" game publisher 2K Sports recently announced that Billy Goldberg will be the game's pre-order exclusive playable character. As of this moment, an official game title has not yet been revealed.
Alongside this announcement is the confirmation that 15-time WWE world heavyweight champion John Cena and WWE Hall of Famer Ultimate Warrior Sasha Banks will be added into the roster of playable characters. This is the first time for Banks to be included in the video game since she first signed up at WWE in 2010. A few weeks before E3 2016, 2K sports announced that Rob Schamberger will be painting the characters who will be added in the roster of players for the upcoming video game.
It has long been fans' requests for the game developer to add more female wrestlers. The recent move is an implication that 2K Sports granted their followers' request, Game Zone reported.
In line with Banks' inclusion as a playable character, other female wrestlers like Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Bayley, who are the rest of the Four Horsewomen, may also be added in the player roster. Those who will be pre-ordering the game will get Goldberg as bonus character. Goldberg will be having two versions, one in black trunks, and the other version wearing the black and white trunks, Tech Times reported.
The report added that those who will be availing the pre-order will also be gaining access to a pair of retro WCW arenas, the WCW Nitro and Halloween Havoc. It is rumored that 2K Sports will be trying to release "WWE" 2k17 within this year's fall season. Aside from this information, other details surrounding the upcoming game are still unknown as of the moment.
On the other hand, fans are hoping newcomers like Samoa Joe, Shinsuke Nakamura and Austin Aries will also be added into the roster of players. 2K Sports has been creating the "WWE" 2K video game series franchise since 2014. Several number of developers like Yukes, THQ, Visual Concepts and Amaze Entertainment have been involved in the game's development before 2K Sports went solo in 2014.
