Hulk Hogan was released by the WWE and erased from its history following his racist comments in a leaked sex video. However, the latest rumors imply that Hogan and the WWE are in good terms so the return of Hulkamania is imminent.
The WWE released Hogan from his contract on July 24, 2015 and all references to him on their official website were removed. His merchandise from the WWE shop and his page in the WWE Hall of Fame were also erased.
Nonetheless, the 62-year-old apologized for his remarks and made a promise that he will try to repair his image. He also sued Gawker Media, who released the sex video without his consent, for defamation, emotional pain and loss of privacy.
Hogan was funded by Silicon Valley billionaire Peter Thiel, who Gawker outed in 2007. He won the case and a jury awarded him a total of $140 million, Forbes reported. It caused the media company to file for bankruptcy.
On the other hand, the WWE has slowly allowed the image of Hogan back into their programming. Some exclusive shows on the WWE Network like "The Edge and Christian Show" and "Table for 3" have also mentioned his name.
According to Daily Wrestling News, the WWE are currently in good terms with the Hulkster and they could probably be working together again. However, both sides are still looking for the right time and opportunity to make their partnership official again.
It should be noted that Vince McMahon believes Hogan is still a draw but the WWE have to just carefully plan his return. The company lost millions of dollars in stocks following the sex tape leak last year which led to his eventual release.
The Immortal is considered one of the greatest superstars in the history of the WWE. He helped McMahon reached greater heights in the 1980s and was very instrumental in the popularity of wrestling around the world.
Hogan is a six-time WWE champion, a one-time tag team champion with Edge and he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005. Even though he has a love-hate relationship with the WWE chairman over the years, Hogan has come back to the company where he made his name.
