Are chances of “Descendants of the Sun” co-stars Song Joong-ki and Song Hye Kyo to become a real-life couple becoming dimmer as the show moves toward its Season 2 without the pair?
Fans of the two may feel that way following rumors surrounding the Hallyu stars. First, Lee Min Soo has stated he wants to work with Song Hye Kyo in a project and some fans had started a MinKyo Facebook fan page.
Second, Song Joong ki, who was photographed in Los Angeles, was also rumored to be with his current non-celebrity girlfriend. It was fueled by a report of China’s Phoenix Television that the actor reserved a plane ticket and hotel room two weeks ago. However, Blossom Entertainment, the actor’s management company, clarified that Song Joong-ki came to LA for a vacation with staff members and not with a female companion, reported Soompi.
Third, some fans may have been confused by a Chinese woman claiming to be Song Joong-ki’s wife. Actually, 20-year-old Mai Wei, a student at the Beijing Film Academy, is the winner of the SBS "Song Joong Ki Wife Contest."
AllKpop reported that the contest was held in the Chinese capital city, and the winner was featured in a special documentary titled “Selling Hallyu.” Mai Wei, who had appeared in many dramas in China, received a cash prize of 6,000 yuan. She and the second and third placers were signed with an entertainment agency, received tickets to the actor’s fan meeting in China and had a photo time with Song Joong-ki.
With all of those reports only speculations, KiKyo fans are still hopeful the two would admit a romantic relationship during a future fan meet. However, for some fans, Soong Joong-ki in LA using the same bag as Song Hye Kyo is sufficient hope the two are in a secret relationship.
