Rumors are rife about Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Note 7, which is slated for a launch in August. Latest information concerns the battery capacity of the imminent device.
Apart from the news about the Apple-baiting upgrade and the new sci-fi style-unlocking feature, information has surfaced about the Galaxy Note 7 battery, which is the first sign of possible disappointment in the Note lineup, according to Forbes. Reputable Russian tipster Eldar Murtazin has teased that the upcoming tablet will have a battery capacity of 3600mAh, with leaks indicating that it will deliver just over 20 hours of video on the gadget.
Based on the available information about the Note 7 design, the battery will be a fixed internal one as opposed to user-replaceable. From the volume of pixels and power needed to drive the much-rumored 5.8-inch QHD display, the battery does not come out as a "monster" as compared to other similar tablets.
However, the battery in the forthcoming Note 7 is advancement on the 3000mAh battery that shipped with the 2015 Galaxy Note. All said, users should expect a relative increase in useful battery time.
The 3600mAh battery will not allow the Galaxy Note 7 to compete favorably with other major tablets. The Galaxy S7 Edge released in March this year, and the 5.5-inch device has 3600mAh battery.
Based on the South Korean tech giant's dedication to rationalize the supply chain, there is a considerable financial argument for the Note 7 to come with a similar battery as the Galaxy S7 Edge. The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge batteries were improved following complaints about the weaker batteries in the Galaxy S6 lineup, according to the same publication. With the smaller than anticipated battery capacity, the manufacturer still boasts of the increased power in the 2016 Note 7 as compared to its predecessor.
All the tweaks being rumored for the Note 7 suggest that Samsung is giving users a return to the flexibility and unique capability of the Note 7 that was entirely absent in the Galaxy Note 5 - especially the return of microSD. The improved capacity will be welcomed, although considering the design indications from the Galaxy S7 flagship and the incorporation of IP68 dust- and water-proofing features paid to an easily replaceable user battery.
