SBS's Monday-Tuesday drama "Doctors" is gaining more popularity day by day. The June 28 broadcast of "Doctors," which stars Park Shin Hye, Kim Rae Won, Lee Sung Kyung and Yoon Kyung Sang, apparently recorded 18.0 percent in viewership ratings.
According to Nielsen Korea, the fourth episode recorded a viewership of around 18.0 percent across Seoul national capital area, roughly 1.1 percent increase from the previous episode, which recorded 16.9 percent.
MBC's "Monster," starring Kang Ji Hwan and Sung Yu-Ri, came in second with 11.1 percent ratings, while KBS 2TV's "Beautiful Mind" got 4.5 percent ratings. Hence, it only suggests that more viewers are tuning into the slanting medical TV drama. Further, it is the highest rating that the said drama has recorded to date.
"Doctors" tells the romantic tale between a talented neurosurgery specialist, Dr. Hong Ji Hong (Kim) and a cynical wayward gangster, Yoo Hye Jeong (Park), who meet again after 13 years when the latter becomes a compassionate doctor. Other cast members include Kim Min Seok, Yoo Da-In, Jang Hyun Sung, Baek Sung Hyun, Jo Hyun Sik, Kim Kang Hyun, Pyo Ye Jin, Choi Sung Jae, Lee Sun Ho, Ji Yi-Soo and more.
The show's relentless increment in viewer ratings since its first episode is ascribed to its solid content, ensemble cast members, its realistic dialogue and its unique theme, which viewers can sympathize with.
Meanwhile, the sneak peak for the fifth "Doctors" episode shows Hye Jeong asking Ji Hong's help in acquiring the records of her grandmother, Kang Mal-soon (Kim Young Ae). The episode 3, which aired on June 27, Monday, vaguely uncovered that Hye Jeong's purpose in working at the hospital was a direct result of Dr. Jin Myung Ho's (Um Hyo-Sup) mistake while operating the former's grandmother that led to her death, Drama Beans has learned.
Much to the delight of viewers across the globe, the on-screen lovers is expected to become more intimate in the upcoming episodes, as the preview further shows an intruder came to the hospital, putting Hye Jeong in great danger. The fifth episode is scheduled to be aired on July 4, Monday, at 10:00 PM (KST).
