Actress Han Bo Bae, 22, has boarded the cast of SBS's medical drama "Doctors." The "My Pitiful Sister" star will play as Yoo Hye Jung's (Park Shin Hye) half-sister on the series starring Park and Kim Rae Won.
Han, best known for her pivotal role in 2008's "The Last Scandal of My Life," will be acting as Yoo Hye Jung's half-sister named Yoo Yoo-Na, Soompi reported. Han's character is described to have a strong personality and is full of leadership.
The publication notes that Han's character has a hidden past with her mother and is friendly towards Park. It is said that Yoo Yoo-Na is the only tie Yoo Hye Jung has to her family.
There is no word on when will fans see Han's character in the drama. Nonetheless, the drama's staff reportedly lauded the actress for work ethic during her first day of filming.
Helmed by PD Oh Choong-Hwan, the on-going SBS's drama depicts the inspiring story of a skeptical wayward gangster, Yoo Hye Jung (Park), who learns to open up to other people and eventually become a good, compassionate doctor. The drama heavily focuses on Yoo Hye Jung's growth and transformation after meeting her mentor, Hong Ji-hong (Kim), who is a renowned neurosurgeon specialist.
Due to its ensemble cast and unique plot, the drama's ratings apparently continues to rise as the day passes by. According to Nielsen Korea, the July 4 broadcast of "Doctors" has recorded 20.2 percent in viewership ratings, roughly 2.2 percent increase from the previous episode, which recorded 18.0 percent.
SBS's "Doctors" had three times higher viewership ratings than KBS2's medical thriller "Beautiful Mind," which stars actor Jang Hyuk, Park So Dam, Park Se Young, and Yoon Hyun Min. Hence, numerous individuals speculated that "Doctors" may replicate the unequivocal success of "Descendants of the Sun," starring Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo, which aired on KBS2 from Feb. 24 to April 22 for 19 episodes.
"Doctors" also stars Lee Sung Kyung, Yoon Gyun Sang, Ji Soo, Kim Min Seok, Jang Hyun Sung, Yoo Da-In, Jo Hyun Sik, Baek Sung Hyung, Pyo Ye Jin, Kim Kang Hyun, Choi Sung Jae, Ji Yi Soo, Lee Sun Ho and more. The next episode of "Doctors" airs on July 11 at 10:00 PM (KST).
