"Gogh, The Starry Night," a China-South Korea co-produced online drama series, is set to debut on the Web on July 09, Saturday.
According to the Global Times, the new series "marks a fresh attempt to explore new forms of collaboration between Chinese and foreign producers."
The series stars Kim Young-kwang and Kwon Yuri. Yuri plays the role of Gogh, a 29-year-old employee for an advertising agency. She works alongside her short-tempered boss, Kang Tae-ho, played by Kim.
Romance soon blossoms in the workplace between the two, despite making a rough start.
Park Shin-hye and Lee Jong-suk are also said to have cameo roles.
Young-kwang has appeared in various TV dramas, including "Plus Nine Boys" and "Can We Get Married."
Aside from being part of the South Korean group Girls' Generation, 26-year-old Yuri is known for her roles in "Fashion King," "Neighborhood Hero" and "No Breathing."
The series is directed by Jo Soo Won, who also filmed hit TV dramas "Pinocchio" and "I Can Hear Your Voice."
According to the Global Times, the series is targeted at student viewers in time with its summer release.
"Gogh, The Starry Night" will be available on China-based online streaming platform Sohu TV.
During the series' launch last week, Sohu's TV & Movie Copyrights Center's general manager Ma Ke said that the capability of South Korean studios to offer high-quality video content can enrich China's online video market.
According to Forbes, this segment is expected to reach 90 billion yuan or about $14 billion through 2018, a CAGR of 39 percent.
Forbes also noted that while advertising revenues are derived mainly from copyrighted TV dramas, the increase in self-produced videos will also fuel growth.
"The significant growth in video consumption across multiple devices (such as mobile devices and tablets) in China is a key factor that will propel growth in this industry," Forbes wrote.
