The first stills for KBS2's upcoming drama "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" have been finally released. Recently, the drama's production staff released the stills of the two leading stars, Park Bo Gum and Kim Yoo Jung, enjoying a friendly moment in historical costumes.
On June 29, the drama's production staff released the picture to multiple local news outlets. The released photographs obtained by Korea's Naver TV, gave fans a first look at Park and Kim's respective character in the television series.
In the still, Park wears a royal attire befitting his character in the drama, while Kim is strangely not dressed as a young lady. The photos were widely circulated on Facebook.
"1988" star will play the eldest child of King Sunjo (Kim Seung Soo) named Lee Yeong aka Crown Prince Hyomyeong. Park's character is described as an intelligent and handsome young man, who have an affinity towards music, arts and etiquette.
Kim, on the other hand, transforms into Hong Ra On, a young woman who disguises herself as a man and advise men on dating. Sudden twist and turn ensue when Hong Ra-On ends up cross-dressing as a eunuch of Lee Yeong. The drama marks Kim's first cross-dressing role.
Helmed by Kim Sung Yoon and Baek Sang Hoon, "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" tells the coming-of-age story of Lee Yeong and the youthful romance between the latter and Hong Ra On during the 19th century of Joseon Dynasty. On May 26, the drama held its first script reading session at the KBS Annex Broadcasting Station in Yeouido, South Korea.
"It's a coming-of-age story set in the Joseon period, for which no historical records remain," a representative from KBS said in a statement obtained by The Korea Herald. "We expect Park to successfully portray Hyomyung's growth from youth to a revered Joseon leader."
The 20-episode upcoming TV series is based on the 2013-2014 web novel "Gooreumi Geurin Dalbit" by Yoon Yi Soo. The upcoming drama also stars Chae Soo Bin, Jinyoung, Lee Seo Won, Jung Hye Sung, Kim Seung Soo, Cheon Ho Jin and Jang Gwang.
B1A4's Jinyoung will play the charismatic and poised, Kim Yoon Sung, who is a scholar from a prestigious family. Jinyoung's character has an antagonistic relationship with Lee Yeong. "Cheer Up!" star Chae has been cast to play Jo Ha Yeon, who is the royal consort for Lee Yeong. It is said that Jo Ha Yeon is a pawn to her family's political ambitions.
The filming for the drama series began in early June. KBS2's "Moonlight Drawn By Clouds" will begin airing on Aug. 15 at 10:00 PM (EST). Check out the teaser below:
