The first actor who played Ser Gregor Clegane, also known as The Mountain, in the hit HBO series "Game of Thrones" is joining a Filipino series titled "Encantadia." Conan Stevens previously visited the set of the series in the Philippines.
"I can't talk about it but I can say that I tend to get typecasted, so you can probably expect more of the same," GMA News quoted Stevens as saying. He added that he tends to get big and imposing roles.
Starring Kylie Padilla, Gabbi Garcia, Sanya Lopez and Glaiza de Castro, "Encantadia" is a fantasy series created by Suzette Doctolero based on the 2005 fantasy series of the same name. It is set to premiere on July 18 on GMA.
Aside from joining the cast of "Encantadia," Stevens is also set to star in "Nameless" and "A Man Will Rise." Directed by Luis Esteban and Thurman Bryan, "Nameless" is a thriller film starring David Frampton, Aida Folch, Bailey West, Henry Lile, John Rhys-Davies, Adrian Titieni and Steven Berkoff, among others.
"A Man Will Rise" is an action comedy film directed by "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage" actor Tony Jaa and Vitidnan Rojapanich. Among Stevens' co-stars in the film are Jaa, "The Expendables" star Dolph Lundgren, Byron Gibson, Damian Mavis, Russell Geoffrey Banks, David Ismalone, Manel Soler and Jakkrit Kanokpodjananon.
Stevens starred in two "The Hobbit" movies. He played Bolg in "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" in 2012 and the Keeper of the Dungeons in "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" in 2014.
In 2011, Stevens appeared in two episodes of "Game of Thrones" as The Mountain. The character was played in Season 2 by Ian Whyte and in the fourth, fifth and sixth seasons by Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, who was spotted shopping with his girlfriend in Beverly Hills weeks before the "Game of Thrones" Season 6 finale, Daily Mail reported.
Born in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, Stevens starred in his first feature film in 2005. He played the title character, a green swamp monster, in the Marvel film "Man-Thing."
