Not new in featuring entirely different casts per season, "Fargo" Season 3 will see a new female lead who will be playing opposite Ray Stussey/ Emmit Stussey (Ewan McGregor). "The Leftovers" star Carrie Coon is set to be seen onscreen in the next season of the FX anthology series.
Coon will play the series regular Gloria Burgle, according to TV Line. Her move to "Fargo" Season 3 is a perfect timing as she is presently wrapping up filming in Australia for "The Leftover" Season 3 finale.
Burgle is a parctical, newly divorced woman and chief of the Eden Valley police. In this modern age of gadgets and computers, she will struggle to understand why people see these things more important than the real communication.
Showrunner Noah Hawley hinted that the upcoming season will have a connection with the previous season's storylines. The connection will be seen on how the first and the second season were connected.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in December 2015, Hawley revealed that no actors in Season 1 will be reprising their roles in "Fargo" Season 3. It is unclear how the connection will happen with the installments given the different sets of characters appearing each season. He insisted that his revelation will give a different twist to the endings of each story.
"None of the main characters from our first year will be back for our third year," Hawley told the publication. "That's not to say that one of our stories might not intersect with characters we've seen before for a certain period of time."
There is a speculation that "Fargo" Season 3 may take place in a 2010 setting, although the series' executives have not confirmed the exact details yet. Hawley previosuly teased that the time period of the third installment will be set a couple of years after the initial season.
Its Emmy-winning debut season was set in 2006 while Season 2 took place in 1979. The production of Season 3 may start later in 2016 while new episodes are slated to be seen in 2017.
