The Chinese young bud OnePlus is back with a bang, this time with its flagship phone OnePlus 3. The launch of the phone is the company's attempt to rule the market once again, with top-level features at a knockdown price.
OnePlus 3 is the company's best handset so far, according to Gizmag. It is a sleek and a powerful handset that might attract the interest of some of the biggest manufacturers available in the industry today. The third flagship in the OnePlus series is set to establish a new marker in the smartphone industry.
OnePlus 3 is a fine looking phone that is contoured from all the right places. The phone is just 7.4 mm in thickness and is comfortable and smooth to touch. In terms of the overall looks of the device, it may not be comfortably compared to other gorgeous phones such as iPhone 6S and Samsung Galaxy S7, but is at the same level with Nexus 6P and LG G5.
If this was not all, the phone is equipped with a physical mute switch, a feature that lacks in a majority of Android devices released so far. Although the features were also there in OnePlus 2, which was released back in 2015, this time the feature has come at the cost of Do Not Disturb software toggle switch. The fans would have, in fact, loved to have both the features available in the same device.
The new phone runs on OxygenOS, a light-skinned version of Android Marshmallow. This version of the operating system is developed by the company itself. The phone does not come with an excessive number of bloatware apps and carries Gallery, file manager and music apps.
The square, raised camera lens is probably one of the biggest drawbacks of the phone. However, the development team has done a fantastic job with the rest of the design. As for the memory and storage options, OnePlus 3 has a huge 6 GB RAM, a Snapdragon 820 processor, a 3,000 mAh battery and 64 GB of internal storage. There is no MicroSD card slot in the phone and therefore, 64 GB is all that the user has.
OnePlus 3 has a 5.5-inch AMOLED display that runs on a Full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, as compared to other competing phones that use the QHD 2,560 x 1,440 standard. Moreover, the device has 16 MP camera and comes at half the price of other competing flagship phones.
On the flip side, a Reddit user names carpe01 claimed that the color tuning used on OnePlus 3 display varies from the standard sRGB. It does not affect the phone's operation, however, the company has said that an update to allow manual RGB tuning is still on the way.
