Brock Lesnar came out victorious in his return to mixed martial arts as he dominated Mark Hunt at UFC 200. The Beast is also set to get even richer for fighting The Super Samoan because his rumored total earnings could get up to $8 million.
According to FanSided, Lesnar has a guaranteed fight purse of $2.5 million. It was the biggest in UFC's history as it toppled Conor McGregor's record purse $1 million for fighting Nate Diaz at UFC 196 in March.
The rest of Lesnar's possible earnings will come from pay-per-view revenues that are not expected to be huge despite UFC 200's built as the biggest event in the promotion's history. Jon Jones' positive doping test certainly had a huge impact but the star power of the fighters in the card was enough to save it.
The former WWE and UFC world heavyweight champion currently holds the record for the most bought UFC PPV in history with 1.6 million. It was set on July 11, 2009 when Lesnar defeated Frank Mir via a TKO in Round 2 to retain his title.
On the other hand, Lesnar can earn a minimum total of $5.5 million and could reach $8 million with $5,000 coming from Reebok. It should be noted that the $8 million UFC payout is bigger than what he earns for a year wrestling for Vince McMahon, per What Culture.
The 38-year-old returned to MMA despite having a contract with the WWE until 2018. In his post-fight conference, he seems to be leaning towards fighting inside the Octagon again but the WWE has insisted that Lesnar's UFC 200 fight was a one-time thing.
Lesnar is slated to return to the WWE on August 21 when he faces Randy Orton in a dream match. Orton is set to promote the match at Battleground in a special episode of Chris Jericho's "The Highlight Reel." Both superstars are coming off lengthy absences on WWE television with Lesnar last appearing at WrestleMania 32 while Orton has been out with a shoulder injury since late September 2015.
McMahon and the WWE should be worried about one of their top draw leaving wrestling again to fight in the UFC. Lesnar could earn much more by working for both companies at the same time. With the UFC having new owners, they might be more open to working the WWE.
