Sony has confirmed that their upcoming PlayStation VR headset will be supporting the DualShock 4 controllers as well besides the motion controller which means users can choose how to play their VR games.

The PlayStation VR motion controllers add more depth to the VR experience compared to gamepads. However, some still prefer to use the old-fashioned way to familiarize themselves.

Sony said in a statement that all of their PlayStation VR games will still support the usual DualShock 4 controllers and they will not be exclusive to the motion controllers such as their colorful Move or the new Aim controller that was just recently unveiled, Ubergizmo has learned.

It explains why the PlayStation VR games or the headset itself is not bundled with the Move or the Aim controller. Players will be able to use the headset with just their DualShock 4 controllers that are already connected to their PlayStation 4.

However, not all of the PlayStation VR games would be best played with the gamepad. Most of the games are even designed for the new Aim controller or the Move because it would be easier to aim with the user's actual hands and not using the arrow or the d-pads.

The DualShock 4 controller support for the PlayStation VR also makes sense for the flat games that will have VR playability like Detroit: Become Human, The Verge reported. It would be easier to navigate such games especially the menus with the standard gamepad controller instead of the more complicated Move.

There are some games that are designed for the Move or Aim controllers themselves. The Farpoint PlayStation VR game uses the Aim controller for the gun shooting which is kind of the main mechanic of the VR game itself. The Climb is also another title that would be better off with the Move controller instead of the DualShock 4.

Job Simulator also requires both hands for the full VR experience. All of the tasks require the user's hands to hit or to place objects where they need to be placed and it cannot be accurately done with the default gamepad controller.

Sony is expected to release the PlayStation VR with a $399 price tag. Users need a PlayStation 4 or a PlayStation Neo to power the VR headset.
