Instead of being acquitted as previously announced by the Seoul Gangnam Police, Korean actor Park Yoochun was recommended to be charged with solicitation of prostitution and fraud charges last week.
However, Kim Young-sam, a mass culture critic, tweeted his opinion on the charges recommended to be filed. He said he believes the charges would likely be dismissed by the prosecution if the police cannot corroborate the evidence clearly.
“He will be acquitted of [solicitation of] prostitution too … Because the text message evidence is too restrictive too,” Naver quoted Kim Young-sam.
In another tweet, he also found the public opinion and responses on the sexual assault accusations funny too. The mass culture critic wrote, “After claiming it were unconditional sexual assaults, the responses are the same where when it comes to the prostitution charges. But are they the same?”
CJeS, the agency of Park Yoochun, said that the actor is not capable of soliciting the services of a prostitute, but the agency assured that it would cooperate fully with the police. The agency apologized for the false reports that surfaced even when the investigation was still ongoing.
CJeS said that it has filed lawsuits against the women who falsely accused Park Yoochun of sexual assault and also those who have been spreading false information about the actor. “We will keep conducting strong confrontation regarding all indiscreet broadcasting and all activities that could injure his honor.”
At the same time, the agency said that the actor and singer apologizes for his involvement in unpleasant matter. It assured his fans, “he will have time for self-restraint and self-reflection.”
