Google is reportedly planning to launch two variants of their Nexus 2016 smartphone with Nexus Marlin and Nexus Sailfish with the latter being the follow up for the Huawei Nexus 6P.
There was nothing but alleged renders of the Google Nexus 2016 phones in the past few weeks but now a leaked photo has surfaced. Unfortunately, it does not confirm the previous renders and specs of the Nexus smartphone and it also does not show the final design of the variant.
TechDroider managed to get a hold of the Google Nexus 2016 Marlin leaked photo which only shows the front face of the smartphone, BGR has learned. It does confirm that the Nexus Marlin smartphone runs the new Android 7.0 Nougat version plus the latest security patch level from July 5, 2016 making it fully updated against the Stagefright vulnerabilities.
Other than that, the Nexus Marlin leaked photo does not really show anything else as the photo is also dark. It can't also be confirmed whether the soft buttons are just from the software itself or if it is from the hardware and it lights up.
Android Nougat is speculated to be rolling out on Q3 2016 which could be the same quarter for the Nexus Marlin and Nexus Sailfish as well. The Google Nexus 2016 smartphones release date is expected somewhere between August or September at the earliest, Neurogadget reported.
Google Nexus 2016 specs are quite complicated considering there are two variants. The Nexus Sailfish is the lower-tier variant with just a 5-inch screen, 4GB RAM and 2770mAh battery capacity.
Meanwhile, the Nexus Marlin is expected to have a dazzling 5.5-inch 2K AMOLED display with a Qualcomm ARMv8 821 quad-core processor plus a massive 3450mAh battery. The Snapdragon 821 was rumored to be one of the variants of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 but recent reports have claimed that it won't be the case.
The Google Nexus 2016 prices are not yet revealed as the product itself has not been confirmed yet. HTC is the rumored manufacturer for both the Nexus Sailfish and Nexus Marlin smartphones and they have not yet disclosed details regarding the two new upcoming Android N models.
