Samsung is close to revealing the Galaxy Note 7 but more disappointing information continue to leak especially with what is supposed to be the most anticipated feature, the Iris scanner.
Several reports have claimed that the Samsung will be packing an Iris scanner for the Galaxy Note 7 which will supposedly make the phone security faster and better than the traditional fingerprint sensor. However, the new leaked photos show that it won't be the case.
When the earlier reports of the Samsung Iris scanner surfaced, it was thought that it will be quick and painless for the user. While physical pain will indeed be absent, the pain will come from the long list of requirements for the scanner to actually work properly.
One Android Authority reader uploaded screenshots of the Samsung Iris scanner disclaimer in the Galaxy Note 7 which lists the possible situations where it might not work in optimal conditions, TrustedReviews has learned.
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 users may not be able to use the Iris scanner properly if they are wearing any type of glasses or contact lenses. They could also be unable to use it if they have undergone laser surgery or if they had iris scar treatment done on them.
The Iris scanner on the new phablet would also not work properly under humid conditions and under strong sunlight. It will also not work if the user's cornea is cloudy or if they have a disease that affects the opacity of their eyes.
Users should also hold the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 about 25 to 35 centimeters away from their face to properly use the Iris scanner as the disclaimer reads, Android Headlines reported. They will also need to position their Irises on the circles that will pop up when they intend to use the scanner which means that it will not be an instant method.
Samsung is expected to finally reveal the Galaxy Note 7 at their upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event in August. The company could then demonstrate the true power of the Iris scanner and if it will really be a better security solution compared to the fingerprint sensor.
