When it comes to male Korean stars, people always compare Song Joong-ki and Lee Min Ho. On Thursday, two comparisons came out, and both emerged winners.
The “Descendants of the Sun” actor topped the list of 10 Hottest Korean Stars of Early 2016, based on the votes of Taiwanese voters at the “Daily View” website. After Song Joong-ki came Lee Min Ho and Kim Soo Hyun.
Soompi reported that the difference between the first and second placers was so wide. Song Joong-ki got 9,638 points, while Lee Min Ho received only 1,767 points. Kim Soo Hyun had 1,270 points. Rounding up the top 10 are So Ji Sub, Park Bo Gum, Lee Jong Suk, T.O.P., Park Hae Jin and Jo In Sung.
The points were based on a real time analysis of internet data for the period Jan. 24 through July 24. Why Song Joong-ki not only emerged number 1 but got the bulk of the votes should not be surprising because this was the period when the 16-episode Hallyu “Descendants of the Sun” was airing over KBS 2TV in South Korea and video platform iQiyi in China.
Meanwhile, Movienewsguide compared Lee Min Ho, Song Joong-ki and Kim Rae Won and concluded that the “Bounty Hunter” actor is ahead of the “Battleship Island” actor in terms of popularity. The basis of the entertainment website’s assessment is Lee Min Ho’s being chosen as South Korea’s representative to the 2016 KCON in California.
The actor was selected as Seoul’s representative for Korean films and drama. The event takes place from July 29 to 31 at the Staples Center and the Los Angeles Convention Center. The Korean delegation is made up of 13 members. The 12 others are SHINee, Block B, Turbo, Davichi, DEAN, GFRIEND, TWICE and Eric Nam. MONSTA X, BTS, Amber, I.O.I. and TaeTiSeo.
