"Scandal" season 6 is rumored to be in danger of being axed.
According to "Good Morning America," the hit ABC series will be cancelled after season 6.
However, executive producer Shonda Rhimes was quick to slam the rumors by saying that there's no truth to them.
On her Twitter account, Rhimes wrote, "Whoa, @GMA: I never said this was the final season of #scandal. Way to make me spit out my coffee."
Immediately after Rhimes posted her tweet, "Good Morning America" host Lara Spencer tweeted, "@shondarhimes, always have your back! Always a #gladiator! #ScandalForever."
Meanwhile, fans of the hit series couldn't help but say that they also do not want "Scandal" to end after six seasons.
Twitter user @CynthiaErivo wrote, "Errr it really better not be the final season!!"
Another fan @NIX1331_ said that without "Scandal," other TV shows such as "Empire," "Blackish," "Power" and "HTGAWM" wouldn't have been conceived.
In other news, "Scandal" season 6 is expected to premiere sometime next year due to lead star Kerry Washington's pregnancy.
At present, the cast of the ABC series have already attended their first script reading for the season.
Photos from their recent gathering were posted on the cast members' respective social media accounts.
"Scandal" season 6 will premiere on ABC sometime in February 2017.
