The much-awaited release date of tvN's "Tomorrow With You" has been postponed. Latest reports claimed that a contributing factor to the delay is that actor Lee Min Ki, 31, decline offered to play the lead male role.
The news comes a month after it was reported that the actor had been involved in a sexual assault scandal in February. After cautious examination by the local police, Lee was then declared innocent.
"The woman filed the charges mistakenly," Go_od Management said in a statement obtained by Soompi. "She has since redacted her statement and we have received an apology from her. In the future, we hope that such misunderstandings will not happen."
Following the scandal, it was reported that tvN's casting decisions would stay unaffected. It is worth noting that "A Million" stars Lee and Shin Min-Ah, 32, had been courted to reunite as leads in tvN's new drama "Tomorrow With You."
However, it appears that Lee's casting may be burdensome to both parties. On July 20, a representative from the upcoming drama cleared reports claiming that the actor left the production.
"Lee Min Ki had never confirmed his appearance, so it is not right to say he 'left'," a representative said in a statement obtained by All Kpop. "Our schedule did not match with Lee Min Ki's so he decided in the end to not appear."
Though neither Lee's agency Go_od Management nor tvN has ensnared the allegations as the reason behind his withdrawal, speculations are rife that it only makes sense for Lee to keep up a low profile until the controversy fades away.
Nonetheless, the "My Girlfriend Is a Nine-Tailed Fox" actress is still considering the offer. It is said that the upcoming drama will now be 100 percent pre-produced with its filming scheduled to take place sooner or later this month.
With PD Yoo Je Won helming the project, "Tomorrow With You" depicts the peculiar love story of a time traveler man and his newly wedded wife. More details about the drama will be revealed soon.
