The Minnesota Timberwolves has again acquired Kevin Garnett, in exchange of Thaddeus Young to Brooklyn Nets, in a deadline deal set by the NBA.
According to Timberwolves' president and head coach Flip Saunders, Garnett does not like change and "that's how he's always been."
"But I think when he looks back, he doesn't think moving from Brooklyn to here as a big change," Saunders said.
The 38-year-old NBA veteran's return to Minnesota brings much hope for the team. Garnett's role will be to guide the players enroute to a possible NBA playoff appearance, after an 11 year drought. In a report made by USA Today,
Garnett reportedly plans to retire this summer but the team hopes to sign him for another year contract. His return to Minnesota will mean playing along with a new roster that includes Ricky Rubio, Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine.
Rubio expressed his excitement saying, "I remember watching him with the Timberwolves and the Boston Celtics win a championship, playing against him was something special."
According to Rubio, the power forward is tough and will always be a winner.
In 1995, Garnett was drafted straight from high school by the Minnesota Timberwolves and spent his 12 seasons there. It was under Garnett's reign that the Timberwolves first tasted 8 playoff appearances and a conference final in 2004. In 2007, the Minnesota Timberwolves traded Garnett to the Boston Celtics, where they won the championship in his first season.
Again, Rubio expressed his support for his new teammate saying, "Whatever he says, we're going to do it."
