Another Korean actor has been slated to join the star-studded cast of the SBS drama "Doctors." Lee Sang Yeob is expected to play a special role alongside cast members Park Shin Hye and Kim Rae Won.
The latest casting news for the SBS romantic medical drama "Doctors" was revealed on Tuesday, Aug. 3, Soompi reported. Lee is expected to join Park, Kim and other cast members' filming activities during the first week of August. The actor reportedly has been one of the avid viewers of the drama and readily agreed to do the cameo role when it was offered to him.
However, details of the actor's special role were not disclosed. Although fans can expect to see him appear in the SBS drama's upcoming episodes 15 and 16, as stated in the same report. The said episodes will air in South Korea during the week of Aug. 8.
Lee has portrayed several roles since he debuted in the Korean entertainment industry. Some of his dramas include the 2012 series "The Innocent Man" where he starred alongside "Descendants of the Sun" actor Song Jong Ki. He was also a cast member in dramas such as "Signal" and "Master - God of Noodles."
The actor has joined the list of other Korean celebrities who have already appeared in "Doctors." Previous episodes have featured Korean stars such as Lee Ki Woo who portrayed a gang boss, Lim Ji Yeon as an Olympic archery player, Jo Dal Hwan, as well as Han Hye Jin. The latest star that appeared in the drama has been Namgoong Min who played the financially challenged father of two sick boys.
Meanwhile, the viewership ratings for the SBS drama's episode 14 that aired on Tuesday, Aug. 2, has shown a slight increase as compared to episode 13. Ratings posted at Nielsen Korea has shown a nationwide viewership share of 19.6 percent versus the 18.5 percent observed for the drama's episode 13.
On a metropolitan area basis, ratings for "Doctors" were at 20.8 percent and 21.8 percent, for the show's episode 13 and 14, respectively. The SBS series has topped the rating war among its Monday-Tuesday drama rivals such as MBC's "Monster" and the recently concluded KBS drama "Beautiful Mind."
