"Foxcatcher" actor Steve Carell showed his support on gender equality by wearing a #HeForShe cufflinks at the Oscars ceremony on Feb. 22, Sunday.
Carell wore a cufflinks designed by Monique Pean, to support the "Harry Potter" actress Emma Watson on his fight to gender equality, the Bustle reported.
The #HeForShe cufflinks is designed by Monique Pean. Based on the photo that Watson posted on Instagram, there are two styles of the cufflink. The other is round and small with gems while the other one is larger.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Women Goodwill Ambassador thanked Carell in her Instagram account for wearing the #HeForShe cufflinks, according to Entertain This.
"Dear Steve Carell, you were pure genius in 'Little Miss Sunshine (one of my all-time favorite films), my brother became obsessed with you in 'Anchorman.' I wanted to marry you or have you adopt me after 'Crazy, Stupid, Love' I hated that you guy were mind-blowing in 'Foxcatcher.' I think you're so awesome and now you are wearing #HeForShe cufflinks at the Oscars to support Gender Equality. Couldn't be more proud! Thank you. Love Emma," Watson wrote on Instagram.
Aside from Carell, Jake MacDorman also wear the cufflinks and tweeted that he's proud to wear it.
The U.N’s #HeForShe campaign for gender equality has launched back in September, where Watson urges everyone to join the said cause.
“It is time that we all see gender as a spectrum instead of two sets of opposing ideals. We should stop defining each other by what we are not, and start defining ourselves by who we are,” Watson said at the launching of the campaign back in September.
The #HeForShe is a solidarity movement for gender equality, which brings men and women to be together for the benefit of all.
