In a recent interview, Xbox Games Marketing Head Aaron Greenberg clarified some of Xbox Head Phil Spencer's statements during E3 when it unveiled their new generation gaming console. The gaming company stand on their announcement that the Xbox Scorpio is the end of console generations.
During his interview with Engadget, Greenberg elaborated that the statement aims to convey the future of Xbox is similar to PC Gaming. At the start of the year, Spencer has been vocal in his vision to have a consistent stream of hardware devices rather than long gaps console after console.
Greenberg further expressed the company thinks the future should not have console generations, and that their upcoming device is a "big bet" standing on how gamers will respond to the new idea. He added they wanted to build a community that will be able to iterate the hardware. The marketing head also clarified the introduction of Scorpio is not a commencement of a new generation, but rather a continuation of what is currently existing.
When asked how they plan to close the gap Sony has claimed in their previous interviews, Greenberg explained the company continues to reach gamers, and they are still seeing a healthy number of console sales. It can be recalled Sony claimed they will be able to sell 52 million PlayStation 4S versus the 29 million units of Xbox Ones Microsoft will be selling by the end of the year.
The executive added they are focusing on a few things and that includes increasing their growing user base of gamers and bringing their games to more people. Greenberg claimed they gained an increase in Xbox One usage by 18 percent for July.
In a Wiki guide of IGN for Project Scorpio, the upcoming device will support true 4k resolution and VR technology, will boast an 8-CPU core and 6 Teraflop GPU and will have a 320 GB/s bandwidth. The console will be compatible with all existing Xbox One games and accessories and is expected to be released during the holiday season of 2017.
