Working for so many years for a giant company certainly has its rewards.
Just this Feb. 23, Monday, Robert Chapek, previously home entertainment manager before running the Disney Consumer Products, was appointed to head the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. He is known to be a fast-rising executive who knows his way into streamlining the company's merchandise division, The New York Times reported.
Chapek, who has been with the entertainment giant for about 22 years, will replace Thomas O. Staggs, who was also promoted to Disney's No. 2 position, the chief operating officer, earlier this month. Staggs is placed in line to the chief executive officer position, which is currently occupied by Bob Iger.
Staggs said the new chairman is "stepping into this role at an incredibly dynamic and exciting time for our Parks and Resorts business," Variety reported.
Also, Staggs emphasized that the ongoing construction of the Disney Resort in Shanghai as well as the new area with an Avatar theme at Walt Disney World is proof of the company's growth and expansion.
Chapek was the head of distribution for the Walt Disney Studios, prior to running Disney's consumer products. His main role was to manage the overall content distribution campaign of the studio, which included TV, new media, and digital entertainment.
The news about his new role came after the announcement to increase price tickets at Disney's Magic Kingdom park in Orlando.
"I look forward to working with the remarkably talented team dedicated to creating magical memories for millions of guests around the world," Chapek said about his new role.
Disney did not disclose any names as to who will replace Chapek for the position he just left.
