Actor Kit Harington admitted it was "disappointing" to return to the HBO fantasy drama "Game of Thrones." After his character Jon Snow was killed on the show at the end of season five, Kit was told he would be brought back to life.
The 29-year-old actor had high hopes that the character would be "a changed person" on his return. He said that he knew he was coming back to life but didn't know that he would come back as a changed person but not that he would return as a villain. So he couldn't pre-plan anything, which was hard, the Wrap reported. The actor said: "When I got the script which actually said that he comes back as himself, as the Jon Snow that everyone knows. Which at first, I found to be disappointing."
In the season six of "Game of Thrones," even the viewers were not really surprised to see Jon Snow return to life having abruptly been killed during the closing moments of the fifth season. But what was unpredictable for the fans and which left a lot many bemused was how the death would change the character of Jon Snow.
In an interview, Harington -- who has been a part of the HBO fantasy series ever since it began in 2011 -- revealed that he knew Snow wasn't dead right from the word go and that he is "one of the safest people" on the show. The actor, however, went on to say that his disappointment pertaining to his character's return was short-lived as now Jon has an insight into what lies beyond that very few people in this world are capable of perceiving. And he also knows that there's no afterlife which dictates his actions and what he does. Kit said it also quietly drive what he wants to do and who he is, The Independent reported.
The next two seasons of "Game of Thrones" will be the series' last. The seasons will have 13 episode -- a shortened episode count as opposed to earlier seasons.
The co-creators of the show, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss recently slipped some tantalizing hints about what can be expected from season seven which is scheduled to be aired in the summer of 2017.
