"Pokémon GO" has started losing its edge, at least in US market, after earning the coveted title of the most downloaded mobile game in history of apps and smartphones, say recent reports.

Niantic Labs really did hit bull's eye with this one. "Pokémon GO" became the most downloaded game with 40 million active users every day. The game has broken records after records in just one month of launching. Statistics obtained from various market research and intelligence firms reveal that it is the most downloaded game in current history.

However, most recent reports indicate that history's most popular game is starting to lose its momentum. According to Bloomberg, the location based reality game is not only losing its daily downloads but also its number of active users as well as in-app time.

Despite receding numbers, Niantic has little to worry about as their app is still a super hit in several other markets around the world. In United States, however, the game is starting to slide down from the top 10 spot. While the game still graces several top spots and grossing charts, it no longer resides among the top 10 free apps in downloads anymore. The analysts explain that this may be possible because everyone who should have the game already gas it. But, regardless of it no longer being a talk of town, "Pokémon GO" is still really big in many other countries, if not US.

Meanwhile, decline of "Pokémon GO" may be a welcome news for the investors at Twitter, Facebook, Tinder, Snapchat and other such apps. With its explosive launch and increased user engagement, investors were concerned that it is affecting the time spent by regular user on other apps.

Soon after launch of "Pokémon GO" in July, the users were reportedly spending far more time playing the new augmented reality game that they would otherwise spend on apps such as Twitter, Facebook and Snapchat. However, if the current trends are any indication, the over-hyped popularity of this game as well as augmented reality game, in general, may not last as long as anticipated, reported CNET.

Niantic Labs, the developers of "Pokémon GO" have been contacted for a comment are yet to respond.
