The latest "Resident Evil 7" details will feature a new protagonist, weapons and plot details, as well as Leon S. Kennedy not added to the sequel.
When Capcom announced a new "Resident Evil" title during the Electronic Entertain Expo several months back, gamers took notice of its demo, gameplay and story of "Resident Evil 7" has been compared to that of Konami's P.T. demo, which became "Silent Hills".
However, as Capcom slowly begins to unravel its secrets piece by piece via gameplay demos, gamers are still in the dark about the plot of "Resident Evil 7". Luckily, Twitter username Warrior64 tweeted a photo of the ESRB synopsis for "Resident Evil 7", which revealed a new protagonist in the sequel as well weapons, monsters and more gore and disturbing violence.
According to the synopsis, gamers will assume the role of Ethan, a man searching for his missing wife in a derelict mansion, but as soon as he enters the house, all sorts of terror and danger awaits him. Gamers will use a variety of weapons such as handguns, shotguns, explosives, flamethrowers and a even a chainsaw to fight off mutant monsters. As the gamers progress, the cut-scenes in "Resident Evil 7" will depict heavy violence and gore as players will see severed hands, legs, exposed guts, corpses and even getting impaled by a shovel, VG 24/7 reported.
Game producer Masachika Kawata stated that combat is still present, but it will not be as action-packed as the previous "Resident Evil" titles. Capcom will be developing the combat system one step at a time as many gaming fans are wondering if the sequel's combat is missing due to the content Capcom has been showing fans during the E3 2016, Gamescom 2016 and the demos.
Capcom wanted a hero who is somewhat weak, scared and inexperience compared to the more battle hardened heroes in the "Resident Evil" series.
In other news, "Resident Evil 4" voice actor Matt Mercer confirmed that he will no reprise his role as Leon S. Kennedy for "Resident Evil 7" as he told Gamespot that he was not approuched by Capcom to do the project.
Mercer added that Capcom is "scaling back" for cameos from classic "Resident Evil" characters, however, Mercer has suggested that Capcom has good reason for that as to ensure that "Resident Evil 7" acts very much as its own game.
Although, classic characters like Leon will not appear in the sequel, Mercer has not given up playing the role and is eager for Capcom to call him if there will be more "Resident Evil" titles ot spin-offs in the works soon.
Capcom announced that more game details and a new playable demo for "Resident Evil 7" will be showcased at Tokyo Game Show 2016.
"Resident Evil 7" will launch on Jan. 14, 2017 for the PS4, PS VR, Xbox One and PC platforms.
