"NCIS" season 14, the American police procedural TV drama on CBS will show off new characters when it returns just few weeks from now. This is the first time the show will have a "major facelift" after 13 seasons, and fans are excited to find out how the show will pan out.
In the upcoming season 14, one of its original cast members who also happens to have played one of the most loved characters in the show will be missing. However, Michael Weatherly's departure will not be enough to stop the development of the new season.
Weatherly played fan-favorite character Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo and in his stead, there are three new characters who are expected to inject a new brand of energy into the show. DiNozzo played as a senior agent of the Major Case Response Team (MCRT). His exit left Special Agent Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) with the task of rebuilding his team, and now he's ready to show his new team off.
DiNozzos' departure has led to the addition of a couple of new agents in "NCIS" season 14's premiere episode titled "Rogue." The new faces are likely to obtain regular status after the conclusion of the upcoming season.
First to be added is actor Wilmer Valderrama, the "That 70s Show" alum will play special agent Nick Torres. His character is expected to gradually take the place of Weatherly.
Valderrama's character, according to the actor, is not really someone who is going to emulate what Weatherly has accomplished in the long-running series. Talking during San Diego Comic-Con last July, he explained his entry to the show. "[Weatherly] had a fantastic journey with the show, Entertainment Weekly reported.
Aside from him, Jennifer Esposito will appear as agent Alexandra "Alex" Quinn, who, according to CBS, is an instructor at the Law Enforcement Training Center. She is convinced by Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) to get back to where she really belongs - in the field.
Gibbs and Quinn have known each other for some time, and the latter has been working as an NCIS training instructor for several years.
Duane Henry, who appeared in a recurring in NCIS" season 13, has been promoted to series regular. Hence, fans will get to see a lot of MI6 Officer Clayton Reeves in the upcoming installment.
"NCIS" season 14 will premiere on Sept. 20, Tuesday, at 8 p.m. on CBS.
