Kung Fu superstar Jackie Chan has once again proven himself in China’s box-office charts as his latest epic film “Dragon Blade” takes center stage during the Chinese Lunar New Year on Feb. 19.
Co-starring with Hollywood actors Adrien Brody and John Cusack, Chan "fought" his way through the top of the country's hit charts as their film garnered a hefty $54.8 million during a four-day period from Feb. 19-22, 2015.
During the first day of the Year of the Wooden Ram, "Dragon Blade" was able to conquer 32.6 percent of the total movie sales on that day.
Following at second place is Chow Yun-fat's "The Man from Macau," a Hong Kong-style gambling comic flick which earned $43.1 million during the four-day period.
"Dragon Blade," which was produced by Chan's Sparkle Roll Media, tells the story of a mission legion of Roman soldiers who traveled to China during the era of 48 B.C.
Lucius, played by Cusack, is the Roman general leading the legion comprised of 1,000 soldiers who are supposed to conquer the country and take it from the Han Dynasty.
However, envious Tiberius (Brody) chased after Lucius to take the country for himself together with 100,000-strong soldiers. To do this, he assassinated Rome's Consul Crassus.
Meanwhile, ancient China was under the protection of Huo An (played by Chan), the commander of the Protection Squad of the Western Regions.
Huo An built an unlikely friendship with Roman general Lucius, who agreed to help in protecting the country from the power-greedy Tiberius.
