After pulling off a crushing 4-0 win over Udinese in their season-opener, Roma was suddenly held to a 2-2 draw by newly-promoted side Cagliari Calcio on the road at the Stadio Sant'Elia on Aug. 28, as per ESPN.
I Giallorossi scored the first two goals of the contest, courtesy of winger Diego Perotti's opening goal via a penalty kick at the sixth minute and midfielder Kevin Strootman's right-footed shot one minute into the second half, before allowing the hosts to get back with two goals of their own.
Cagliari began their comeback with a goal from forward Marco Borriello at the 56th and then completed it with the equalizer at the 87th from striker Marco Sau.
It was an unexpected ending for head coach Luciano Spalletti's squad as they look to improve their game in this match against Sampdoria.
Meanwhile, La Samp opened their season with a two-game winning run, pulling off a 1-0 triumph over lowly squad Empoli in their opener before nipping Atalanta, 2-1, at their home field of Stadio Luigi Ferraris also on Aug. 28, via SkySports.
Atalanta actually drew first blood in the contest with a left-footed shot from midfielder Franck Kessie from the left side of the box at the 27th minute.
The hosts leveled the match eight minutes later with a successful penalty kick by striker Fabio Quagliarella.
La Dea then got into a one-man disadvantage after Chilean midfielder Carlos Carmona was sent off at the 42nd following a second yellow card booking.
Sampdoria went ahead at the stroke of halftime with an assist by forward Luis Muriel to midfielder Edgar Barreto, who headed the winner.
