Apple finally unveiled the iPhone 7/ 7 Plus, something that showed minor improvements. Worth noting is that it is thinner, all thanks to the removal of the 3.5 mm jack.
It was one of the controversial improvements that Apple made, drawing flak from folks who also use their mobile device to privately listen to audio and videos via the iconic wireless headphones.
Apple didn’t really take out that feature completely. iPhone 7 owners can still enjoy private listening though it can be done wirelessly or through the aid of a Lightning port adapter. Unfortunately, that also meant spending extra.
Bluetooth headsets are nothing new these days, something that could be bought depending on one’s taste. Prices will vary but if Apple owners want an authentic piece to go with their iPhone 7, the AirPods could be it.
It will, of course, mean added cost as iPhone owners will need to shell out an extra $159 for it, CNet reported. However, it does keep them in check as far as using an all-Apple device, a premium for folks who want to keep their devices authentic.
It may all boil down to the premium that iPhone owners will place on private listening. Aside from the AirPods, there are pairs from Beats who recently announced three new wireless headphones.
These are the Solo 3 Wireless ($299.95), Powerbeats 3 sport ($199.95), and the Beats X ($149.95). Compared to the AirPod, the latter two offer cheaper alternatives without sacrificing the quality of audio, Business Wire reported.
With those alternatives out in the open, the hype that preceded the removal of the 3.5 mm jacks has somehow been vindicated. Best of all, it produced a slimmer device that aligns the iPhone 7 with its rivals who have been sporting new and thinner molds.
To some, Apple has done something to get customers to spend on their accessories such as the AirPods. But if one looks at it from a wider perspective, it could be more to the fact that the Cupertino company has embraced wireless technology and applying some redesigns while they are at it.
For those who are clueless on the AirPods, the video below should help enlighten you.
