It has been almost 8 years when the serial drama series "Prison Break" ended its fourth season and what was thought to be its last season. Now that the series will be having a reboot, recent reports claim that the long awaited revival, "Prison Break" Season 5," is going to be delayed.
According to Chatt Sports Net, the lead cast members of the series, Wentworth Miller, who plays the role of Michael Scofield, and Dominic Purcell, who portrays the character of Lincoln Burrows, are said to be preoccupied with their other TV commitment, which is the action adventure TV series "Legends of Tomorrow."
The report also cited that "Prison Break" Season 5 will not be having the same number of episodes as the previous seasons. Hence, the fifth installment is going to air 10 episodes only.
In regards to the possible plot of "Prison Break" Season 5, the report noted that Scofield will be at prison in Yemen, and Burrows will plan and help execute Scofield's escape. It was also highlighted that the departure of the series' showrunner and head writer Paul Scheuring might yield different story arcs that fans should watch out for.
On the other note, Variety reported that "Prison Break" Season 5 is quite popular in social media. According to the report, the revival series gained an incredible 19.5 million engagements, beating NBC's "This is Us" that only acquired 1.5 million engagements from May to August 2016.
However, despite the clear popularity of the upcoming season of "Prison Break," it is said that this is not a guarantee for its success. The report even highlighted various series in 2015 that gained high popularity before airing, such as "Limitless," "Minority Report," "Heroes Reborn," "The Muppets," which were later on cancelled by their respective networks.
Meanwhile, although there is no confirmation coming from Fox, sources are saying that the revival season of "Prison Break" might air in the first quarter of 2017. Maybe in the coming weeks or months, Fox would finally give a release date for the long awaited fifth installment.
