Fans of "Mulan" were happy to hear that the 1998 animated feature is going to have a live-action film version. Apparently, most of them do not want the title role to be played by a white actress, such as "X-Men: Apocalypse" actress Jennifer Lawrence.
At the age of 26, Lawrence is currently the highest-paid Hollywood actress, according to Forbes. She has also won one Best Actress award from the Academy Awards and three Oscar nominations.
These things, however, do not help at all when it comes to convincing "Mulans" fans to have Lawrence play the title role of the live-action film version. Apparently, the fans want it to be played by an Asian actress.
One idea that people behind the live-action "Mulan" film project should consider is tapping an actress who has yet to be introduced in Hollywood. A good example is Filipino actress Liza Soberano.
In 2015, Soberano ranked sixth in the list of the most beautiful faces in the world by TC Candler. Among the international celebrities who have noticed the beauty of the young Filipino actress are Charlie Puth as well as Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart of The Chainsmokers.
There was also a rumor spread by her fans in the recent months that Soberano was playing a lead role in "Spider-Man: Homecoming." Unfortunately, it was just a rumor.
Soberano was born in Santa Clara, California, to a Filipino father and an American mother. Her paternal grandparents raised her in Visalia, California, but when she turned 10, she moved to Manila, Philippines.
When Soberano turned 13, she was spotted by a talent scout and was introduced to Ogie Diaz, who is now her manager. She went on to star in the hit Filipino shows "Forevermore" and "Dolce Amore" opposite Enrique Gil.
The singing voice of the title role in the "Mulan" animated film happened to be provided by Soberano's fellow Filipino star Lea Salonga. Watch Soberano perform "Problem" by Ariana Grande here:
